A little call for help

Dear Sir/Madam

My name is William Rigg and I am a 21-year-old orienteer from Great Britain. I am currently in my 4th year studying Chemical Engineering (MEng with Energy Engineering) at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. At my University, there is an opportunity to take part in a Diploma in Industrial Training (DIT) which is an optional requirement of my course to gain industrial experience before the final year of my five-year degree. I'm hoping to complete my DIT in Scandinavia or Finland, so I can also improve my orienteering as well as gain important industrial experience. I am looking for a 12-month industrial placement in a Chemical Engineering role from August 2018 - August 2019.

I would love to be given the opportunity to train with a Scandinavian O club, and join a strong training environment, progressing myself both physically and technically. Being an active member of Edinburgh University Orienteering Club (EUOC) I’ve helped plan and organise training and races and would be delighted to help contribute to your club. I’ve represented Great Britain multiple time including several European Youth Championships and Junior World Championships; in 2016, I finished 31st at JWOC Long Distance and placed 20th at EYOC Long Distance in 2014. I have also multiple medals in British Individual Championships as well as being a 2x British Men’s Relay Champion.

I need your help. Your club may well have contacts through whom I can find a placement. Please can you forward this around your club or to friends & acquaintances who might have links to Chemical Engineering in any relevant sectors such as: Renewables, Oil & Gas, Process Engineering, Pharmaceutical etc.

I have attached my CV, in which you can read about my skills and abilities. I am an enthusiastic individual and I would love to be able to contribute to your company while learning new skills!
